Yoga Club: 3rd, 4th, 5th, & 6th graders

The Yoga Club will be geared towards the physical and emotional wellbeing of LES students. We will practice poses, build strength, develop focus, enhance flexibility, and have moments to practice mindfulness.

Yoga Club will meet once a week on Tuesdays from 7:35-8:00am. Class size limit is 25 students. Students that join must arrive in carline to be dropped off at 7:35. The cost will be $20.00 to purchase a t-shirt. If a student joins Yoga and has a shirt from last year and doesn’t need a new one, the cost will be $10.00. Students should bring their own Yoga mats or a towel.

Clover Buds: 3rd graders

Book Club: 3rd graders

Book Club members will spend time reading and digging deeper into the text of Beverly Cleary’s The Mouse and the Motorcycle. Students will read and discuss the book together, all while enjoying the love of reading!

This club will meet once a month on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:30, and is open to 3^rd graders only. Class size limit is 20 students and the cost to join the club will be $7.00 to cover the purchase of the book.

S.T.E.A.M. Club: 3rd & 4th graders

Passport Club: 3rd & 4th graders

The Passport Club will take a world journey this year. We will explore a different country each month, learning more about their culture, art, music, ways of life, contributions to our world, and famous attractions. We will also taste a food from each country.

Passport Club will meet once a month on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:15. The cost will be $20.00 to cover the cost of food tastings and supplies for each meeting. Class size limit is 30 students. An optional shirt will be available for purchase outside of club fee and can be worn on club days and Fridays.

Girls on the Run: 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade girls

Girls on the Run empowers girls with themes they can relate to in life. These lessons address the whole girl- body, brain, heart, spirit, and social connection- and build important life skills such as team building, developing a support system, boundary setting, decision making, asking for and providing help, and showing kindness.

THIS GROUP IS ACCESSIBLE TO ALL GIRLS REGARDLESS OF ATHLETIC ABILITY OR FITNESS LEVEL. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY INCLUDES STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING APPROPRIATE TO THE AGE GROUP. THE SEASON CULMINATES WITH THE GIRLS ON THE RUN 5K, WHICH IS THE CELEBRATORY EVENT THAT UNDERSCORES THE CONFIDENCE, COMPETENCE, CONNECTION, AND CHARACTER THEY’VE BEEN DEVELOPING IN THE PROGRAM.

Garden Gnomies: 4th, 5th, 6th graders

Garden Gnomies will focus on planting seeds to grow flowers, fruits, and veggies as well as general campus beautification. Students will mulch and weed garden areas on campus, water plants, and monitor the growth of their plants. Students will also occasionally do special art related projects that involve nature. Students will hold a plant sale to benefit the garden club supplies, and will work in our new greenhouse.

This club will meet twice a month on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:30. Class size limit is 30 students and the cost to join is $20.00 for supplies.

4-H Club: 4th, 5th, 6th graders

Sponsors: Mrs. Thomas & Mrs. Hebert

4-H helps kids grow in leadership, citizenship, friendship, and self-esteem! 4-H projects help kids learn about things like animals, plants, science, and nature. Members also learn life skills by looking at all sides of a problem or task and deciding on a solution. Meetings are hands-on and enable youth to excel in new areas and take on new roles in a group.

Meetings are held after school once a month, and students complete a workbook at home to be able to attend Achievement Day at the end of the year.

Builders Club: 5th graders

ASL Club (American Sign Language): 5th and 6th graders

Sponsors: Ms. O’Brien, Mrs. Accardo, Mrs. Lachney, and Ms. Wright

This class will introduce both the Alphabet and Manual American Sign Language. Students will learn letters, numbers, basic vocabulary, and phrases as well as songs. Students may get the opportunity to showcase their knowledge of ASL to our school community.

American Sign Language Club will meet once a week on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:30. The cost will be $10.00 to join that will cover the cost of a club t-shirt. Class size limit is 25 students.

Turtlettes: 5th & 6th graders

Sponsors: Mrs. Osgood & Mrs. Popovich

The Turtlettes cheerleading team contagiously spreads school spirit throughout the year! Their purpose is to demonstrate leadership, dedication, and love for our school. The girls perform at many school events such as morning welcomes, assemblies, PBIS celebrations, and Miracle League. Tryouts for this team are held in May for the following school year, and two sixth grade students are chosen to lead as squad captains.

In order to participate, students must be selected for the team based on a tryout score that looks at their energy, spirit, attitude, and performance of a specific cheer and dance.

Chess Club: 5th & 6th graders

Sponsor: Mr. Diggs

Chess Club is designed to share the love of chess with our Sea Turtle community. No prior experience is needed as strategies and rules will be reviewed. Students will play against one another and hone their skills that will rival even the Grandmasters.

This club will meet twice a month on Thursdays from 3:15-4:15. Class size limit is 25 students and there is no cost to join.

Student Council: 5th & 6th graders

Student Council sponsors several school and community based events including an annual food drive for the Northshore Food Bank, making holiday cards to deliver to local retirement communities, and volunteering in the schools PBIS Reef Store, just to name a few! Representatives also help the PE Department with Field Day and lead tours for incoming 3rd grade students and families.

In order to participate, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and An outstanding discipline record. meetings are held after school.

Magnificent Men: 5th & 6th grade boys

Magnificent Men is designed to shape the young gentlemen of Lancaster into charming and well-mannered Magnificent Men. Topics will range from lessons of respect and taking care of one’s self (both mind and body) to everyday tasks like tying a tie and eloquent conversations.

This club will meet twice a month on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:15 for the first semester only. Class size limit is 20 students and there is no cost to join.

Girls in Pearls: 5th & 6th grade girls

Sponsors: Mrs. K, Mrs. Triche, and Mrs. Fontenot

Girls in Pearls will focus on why social skills are important, how to greet others respectfully, ways to make a positive first impression and building confidence. They will work on proper table etiquette, the importance of showing gratitude, out and about courtesy, and being polite. Girls in Pearls will possibly have a culminating meeting at The English Tea Room in the Spring semester that will not be included in the overall cost to join.

This club will meet once a month on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:30 and is open to girls in grades 5^th and 6^th only. The cost to join the club is $25.00 which will cover club supplies, including a pair of pearls and a t-shirt.

S.A.V.E. Promise Club: 6th graders

Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) is for students who want to help ensure that students feel safe, included, and know where to turn if they need help. Club members use their leadership skills, creativity, and passion to protect their friends, schools, and communities from violence BEFORE it happens.

In order to participate, students must be selected to join based upon their application, This includes a brief set of questions regarding various topics related to the club’s mission and a response on how the student could help the club achieve its goals.

Heart & Sole: 6th graders

Sponsors: Ms. Hahn & Ms. Spring

Heart & Sole empowers 6th grade girls with themes they can relate to as they enter into middle school life. These lessons address the whole girl- body, brain, heart, spirit, and social connection- and build important life skills such as team building, developing a support system, boundary setting, decision making, asking for and providing help, and showing kindness.

This group is accessible to all girls regardless of athletic ability or fitness level. Physical activity includes strength and conditioning appropriate to the age group. The season culminates with the Girls on the Run 5K, which is the celebratory event that underscores the confidence, competence, connection, and character they’ve been developing in the program.

Beta Club: 6th graders

Sponsor: Mrs. Hebert

Beta Club’s ideals focus on promoting academic achievement, character, service, and leadership. Students participate in various events including writing letters to teachers who inspire them, hosting tours to second grade families, assisting with Field Day, marching in the Merry Madisonville Parade, and completing individual service hours. Beta Club even raised $1,000 to donate to our school last year!

Membership is open to sixth grade students who maintained a 4.0 GPA during their 5th grade year.

Biz Kids: 6th graders

Sponsor: Mrs. Bridgette

Biz Kids members will be the managers of our school shopping center, The Reef Store! Managers will learn how to be business pros! They will learn how to write a business plan, the 4 P’s of marketing, become more familiar with business terms, and dive into ideas of entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Biz Kids are expected to be responsible, respectful, and good citizens.

This club will meet on the first Wednesday of each month from 3:15-4:00. Class size limit is 30 students, and the cost to join is $15.00 which will cover a club t-shirt and end of the year pizza party.
